The Glowworms Education Foundation focuses on developing and funding programs that expand and enrich the educational opportunities, services, and support structures for students at public schools. As public schools face budget constraints, they are often left unable to offer curricula beyond courses in core areas such as reading, math, and science. Glowworms programs are designed to help give students a broader education and a richer experience at school, and to contribute to a robust educational environment in which students have diverse opportunities to grow and learn. |

While the individual programs are important in themselves, they also focus on activities that can help students perform better in the standard academic classes that form the foundation of their education. Courses in physical education, art, music, and other areas can help students develop confidence and social skills while exposing them to new ideas, cultures, and perspectives. School services such as guidance counseling, tutoring, libraries, and community and parent-involvement-programs all help students address difficulties that can be encountered both in and out of the classroom and re-enforce the value of education through parent and community involvement. All of these programs enrich students' educational experiences and provide them with new tools to re-apply in the classroom and other aspects of their lives.
The Glowworms Education Foundation is currently working with Leonard Flynn Elementary School in San Francisco and preparing to expand its programs to reach other schools in the San Francisco School District. |
